Synthetic winch rope

The steel cable of winches is increasingly being replaced by synthetic rope. This improves breaking strength, safety and ease of use. Because steel wire reaches a point where it deforms permanently, it will need to be replaced more quickly. This is much less likely to happen with synthetic rope, because the energy in the rope is converted into heat and not into elasticity.
